Introduction

Creativity is one of the most valuable character traits in human beings. For as long as we can remember, creatives have been trying to “reinvent the wheel,” and introduce novel innovations in various fields of business, science, technology, and more. The term “Disruptive Technology” was coined in 1995 by Clayton Christensen in aHarvard Business Review Article. He defined disruptive technology as innovations that reshape the respective landscape of thought and introduces novel effective methods that are adapted in place of established, older methods and market segments.

It is human nature to seek innovation and efficient adaptation. Ever since the dawn of man, we’ve been fashioning new tools from our environment to better suit our needs. This has been a consistent trend in human evolution throughout the ages, now more so than ever with the advent of computational technology, and the interconnectedness it brings forth. The whole world has become connected, concepts and ideas are shared at a glance, and perspectives have become broader than ever in an increasingly global society. This has allowed for a renaissance of ideas and innovations in a multitude of fields, with creative individuals spearheading disruptive technologies that aim to elevate humanity and its relationship with technology.

Notable concepts of disruptive technology in the modern age include Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applicability to almost all facets of life. It holds great promise of easing a diverse set of tasks that range from processing mundane, routine work, to generating creative text, art, and music. Furthermore, AI and machine learning utilizationis currently the supreme method for data collection and analysis, uplifting fields that require massive data processing such as weather forecasting, business analytics, facial recognition, and more. The efficiency ofAIis increasing at an alarming rate, and key individuals have voiced their concerns about the ethics ofAIutilization, particularly on its potential effects on job displacement, identity theft and duplication, and creative replicability.

Disruptive technologies have also redefined the financial field by introducing blockchain technology, a decentralized economic system where adopters can earn or “mine” the currency by solving complex equations via computers with strong processing power. Blockchain aims to be completely anonymous and untraceable, raising security concerns by governments worldwide. In the manufacturing world, the utilization of robotics has also proven to be disruptive. Intelligent programming of robotic arms and machinery has multiplied production potential, especially in scalable sectors such as automobile manufacturing.

At IEREK, we believe that innovation and discovery are the way forwards toward a bright future for humanity, therefore, we are proudly announcing the first edition of the international conference on “Disruptive Technology: Innovations & Interdisciplinary Considerations.” We aim to harbor an informative discourse on modern disruptive technologies and innovations from all fields of scientific discovery, encouraging the advancement of humanity overall.

Scope

In the first edition of the Disruptive Technologies Conference, scholars and researchers will gather to extensively discuss many areas in the multi-disciplinary field of technology, and address recent advancements in artificial intelligence. The conference will explore novel methods of technological integration, and discuss the disruptive effect of technological innovation in a wide array of fields such as education, art, healthcare, transportation, and industrial sectors. The conference will also tackle technological solutions for maintaining a healthy environment, waste and resource management, and energy efficiency. In this conference, participants will be pondering over existing problems in the field and discussing possible solutions.

Statement of Purpose

The Disruptive Technologies Conference aims to empower scientists and researchers, bestowing upon them the chance to meet and discuss their views, research, insights, and discoveries in the vast field of technological innovation. The conference aims to comprehensively elaborate on disruptive technologies, which are defined as innovations that disrupt current market segments, and contemporary technological trends. The conference focuses on exploring possible utilizations of artificial intelligence while bringing new ideas relating to technological innovation to light. In an age where technology is the way to connect, improve, and achieve, finding new ways to advance and stay up to date is essential.
